Caesar Salad is probably the most popular salad in the whole world. Traditionally, Caesar Salad consists of romaine lettuce, cheese, egg, olive oil, lemon juice and croutons. Other ingredients may vary. Today we are going to add anchovies to make this wonderful simple meal.
- 4 slices crusty white bread
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 head romaine lettuce
- 2 eggs
- 2 anchovy fillets
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 100 ml olive oil
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 100 g grated Parmesan cheese
Cut bread into cubes. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add bread cubes to the skillet and cook until hard and lightly brown.
Squeeze one garlic clove on top of the bread, stir.
Cool browned bread. Boil eggs.
In a separate bowl prepare the sauce: add minced anchovy fillets, squeeze one garlic clove, pour lemon juice. Pour the olive oil while beating the ingredients. Season with salt and pepper.
Tear salad into bite-size pieces and place in a separate large bowl.
Pour the sauce, bread cubes, stir a bit, add chopped eggs and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
