parmesan and spinach orzo
Parmesan and Spinach Orzo is a very flavourful and interesting side-dish. It has some similarities with risotto. The difference is that it is made from pasta. Try this recipe and see for yourself, if it was a good choice to cook it or not. But we bet, the answer will be positive. 😊

  • 200g orzo pasta
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon wheat flour
  • 250ml milk
  • 50g fresh spinach, chopped in large pieces
  • 100g Parmesan, grated
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Cook orzo pasta in a pot, in salted water until tender.

In a skillet, saute minced garlic cloves in butter over a low heat until translucent and fragrant. Add flour and cook while stirring until flour becomes golden. Add ¼ of milk and stir until the milk is thicker. Repeat this step until all the milk is poured in. Cook for about 2 minutes until lightly thick. Stir in pieces of spinach, grated Parmesan. Cook until cheese fully melts. Remove from the heat, season with salt and ground black pepper. Parmesan will give some saltiness to the dish, so be aware of that when adding salt.

Serve orzo pasta with this sauce.

Enjoy the meal!
